Many people believe that New Orleans in a perpetual state of Mardi Gras. In fact, Mardi Gras season in New Orleans actually starts on January 5th and ends on Fat Tuesday ( Mardi Gras) which is always the day before Ash Wednesday, the start of Lent. Now if we are expected to give up rich foods and our wanton ways for six weeks we have to have a blow out… and boy do we!!!

I only got to a few parades this year, There are soo many new Krewes ( groups) around these days. I belong to the Intergalactic Krewe of Chewbacchus. I could go into a long explanation but I suggest you have a look and we can meet back here https://chewbacchus.org/ Ok, you’re back, good. You probably noticed that there are many sub “krewes” in the organization. My group is called Mystic Krewe of P.U.E.W.C. (People for the inclusion of Unicorns, Elves and Whinebots in Chewbacchus) pronounced puke. During the parade our dedicated followers chant “All hail Puke (PUEWC) check out the Facebook page.

The Big Wig Ball 2019 "Rocky HAIRror"
Every year the Sylvain society hosts a fundraiser called the Big Wig Ball. The proceeds are used to exposed students to the opera. I simply adore this event because it is basically a “fancy dress house party” Every year there is a new theme wigs are requires,costumes are suggested. There is a prize ( more on that later) This year the theme was “Rocky HAIRror”. I immediately got a picture of my wig… Those iconic lips of course!!

Remove the glass they say..
it is worth mentioning, that it was suggested by all websites, to follow safety procedures, most of which I did not follow. I wore safety goggles I really should have applied tape to that glass! OK, glass removed.
